Checkpoint

Checkpoint offers support to adults between 18 and 65 who have learning and or physical disabilities.  Checkpoint offers support representing opportunities in education, employment and leisure, making the maximum possible use of integrated settings and mainstream facilities.

The aim of the service is to provide flexible, innovative support to enable people to integrate into the community and use their local resources.  The emphasis is very much on providing services designed according to individual needs and aspirations.

The service aims to involve the people we support in their own communities, rather than having a day centre.  A typical support agreement reached through the person centred planning process may involve strands of education, leisure opportunities and employment, woven together into a weekly programme with support and assistance at every point.

  • Courses and activities at local colleges and further education centres
  • Support to access employment opportunities and work experience placements
  • Support to access leisure and social activities
  • Supporting in developing relationships and building networks
  • Access to specialist resources
  • Encouragement of idiosyncratic interests and support to develop new interests.
