Social Work Standby Services
Out of hours services for anyone requiring urgent social work support that cannot wait until usual office hours.
Opening hours – Monday to Thursday 4.30 p.m. to midnight.
- Friday – 4 p.m. to midnight.
- Weekends, Public Holidays – 8.30 a.m. to midnight
- This service provides out of hours emergency social work support within the City of Aberdeen.
Opening hours – Monday to Friday 5.00 pm to 8.45 am
Saturday and Sunday 8.45 am to 8.45 am
This service is available for anyone in the Aberdeenshire area experiencing personal or family problems that reach a crisis at nights, weekends or bank holidays.
Dundee and Angus
Opening hours – Weekdays 4.30 pm to 9.30 am
Weekends 4.30 pm (Friday) to 9.30 am (Monday)
All public holidays are covered on a 24 hour basis.
Anyone in Angus and Dundee City who has an urgent problem or crisis can call the service. This may be someone experiencing problems with children, families or those receiving or requiring a community care service.

This freephone service operates out of office hours to provide emergency social work counseling and intervention in cases which are too urgent to await action the following day.
