Dumfries and Galloway Disability Service
Dumfries & Galloway Disability services are active across the greater part of Dumfries & Galloway: Stranraer, Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbright, Auchencairn, Castle Douglas, Inner and outer Dumfries area and Annan.
The service support adults who have a learning disability, autism or acquired brain injury. Some of the people we support also have fluctuating mental health or physical impairments.
Our aim is to provide a high quality service which:
- Is tailored to the needs of the individual
- Supports the individual to develop their full potential
- Accords individuals respect and dignity
- Ensures that individuals exercise informed choice, within proper safeguards
- Enables individuals to become active and valued members of their local community
- Promotes the realisation of individual dreams and aspirations
Dumfries & Galloway Disability Services works in partnership with families, care managers, health professionals, housing providers and a range of other agencies to ensure that individuals' needs are accurately assessed, and that the assessment is then translated into a comprehensive support plan which is regularly reviewed and updated. The individual is at the centre of this process, and is encouraged to contribute at every stage.
We support people in a range of settings: from individual tenancy, to small shared tenancy, to family home. Depending on assessed need, the support we offer may range from between a few hours a week, a few days per month, to the full 24 hours a day.

Referrals:
Usually come from care managers through the social work assessment process. The Operations Manager allocates each referral to a Service Manager for follow up. This would generally be responded to within five working days. This process allows us to look at workload capacity and costs.
