Inverclyde Learning Disability Service

Inverclyde Supported Living and Social Opportunities Service is one of Turning Point Scotland's many community-based services for adults with learning disabilities.

The service provides an alternative to traditional building based day services, providing people with support to access opportunities in their own community.  Social opportunities offer a variety of support to access activities, ranging from individual assistance to more informal facilitated support.  The support is flexible and organised according to the individual's passion, needs and wishes.  Some of the options service users may choose to make use of are:

Courses and activities at local colleges and further education centres
Employment opportunities and volunteer placements
Leisure and educational opportunities available at local community centres
Sporting and sport-training opportunities available through sports centres, swimming pools and sporting organisations
Opportunities in the creative arts accessed through local theatres, arts societies and other cultural bodies.

The service currently supports fourteen service users in a variety of living situations including single tenancies and shared tenancies.  Within the supported living service, three services users are supported who have autism.  The service has been specifically designed paying particular attention to their environment and staff team to meet their additional needs.

All service users have a person centred support plan, detailing their needs, wants and wishes, a key worker who will focus on coordinating their support.

Service users are supported to do many activities, such as accessing local health care providers, community events, visiting family and friends, holidays and everyday household tasks like cooking, cleaning and paying bills.
