Job Information

Turning Point Scotland is a national social care charity providing services to adults with addictions, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, those in the criminal justice system and those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.   Turning Point Scotland North Lanarkshire In North Lanarkshire, our service principal is to promote independence and choice and to work with the people we support to enable them to lead the life they choose. We will support people to access ordinary life experiences including education, employment and social activities as well as providing support to sustain and develop relationships and skills for everyday living including budgeting, and domestic skills for the person to maintain their own home.   This is not your usual 9am – 5pm job; the hours vary but the rewards high. The skills, interests and hobbies in your day to day life are as important as the skills we require you to have for your work as these will bring a breadth and depth that can only enhance the lives of the people we support.  The work can be challenging but is also fulfilling; we offer a comprehensive range of training and structured supervision. Pay scales currently under review (£8.25ph minimum).  Relief Workers may be new to social care but what they lack in experience, they will make up for by demonstrating a keen interest for this line of work, positive values, people skills and work ethic.  In general terms you will recognise that people’s needs differ, so you’ll be comfortable tailoring your approach to a broad range of individuals, and you will know that a consistently excellent standard of care is key to providing the best support possible.  Primarily you’ll see our service users as ordinary people and be motivated by the desire to help them fulfil their full potential.     We operate a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services.  Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity. We are delighted to receive speculative applications from candidates interested in undertaking Relief shifts.   An application pack is attached to the job pack provided above.  You can choose to download, complete and email to adelebarr@turningpointscotland.com, or post to the address provided in purple on our covering letter.  Please note we will not confirm receipt of emailed or posted applications.  If you experience any difficulties please call 01236 426 807. If you have a disability and it would be of assistance to you to have the Application Form and Information Pack in an alternative format, please contact the Service Administrator and we will do what we can to arrange this for you.    TPS support the involvement of people who use services in their recruitment and selection process.   Please note there is no closing date for this vacancy. but applying as soon as possible is advised.   Should your application be successful for interview, the Service will make contact with you directly.   Although we tend to have an on-going need for relief workers, at times applications to be on the Approved Relief Worker List may be more numerous than the requirement at that time and in these situations we will hold applications for consideration for up to 6 months. Thank you for your interest in Turning Point Scotland.   Interview dates are still to be confirmed. Thank you for your interest in applying for a post with Turning Point Scotland
