Link Up
Link-Up is a crisis service for individuals who are rough sleeping and or homeless who experience issues with addiction, primarily alcohol.
One Stop:
Link-Up aims to provide a 24 hours assessment and advice centre. The centre is open 365 days of the year.
Individuals can attend for advice and access to other services, for example, Homeless Addiction Team (HAT), Glasgow Council for Alcohol (GCA), Social Work department.
If required, individuals can be admitted to our Crisis Residential Unit.
Crisis Residential Unit:
This provides a safe and secure environment enabling the individual to withdraw from a chaotic lifestyle. The unit comprises of a 12 bedded unit, in which the current average stay is approximately 28-36 days.
Aim:
- Provision of safe and secure environment
- Continued assessment of needs via support plans, counselling and medical assessment
- Provision of alcohol detoxification
- Referrals to appropriate agencies
- To assist with family and social re-integration
In order to provide continuous care, service users may wish to maintain contact with staff from the ‘One Stop' following discharge.
Long Stay Unit:
The focus of the Long Stay Unit is on resettlement. The service provides accommodation for six residents for a period of six to nine months. Service users are supported to develop their independent living skills and further address their identified areas of need.
During their stay, service users are assisted to access opportunities for educational, leisure and social activities consistent with their preferences.
Aim:
- To provide a safe and supportive substance free environment enabling individuals to continue to make positive lifestyle changes
- To create opportunities for social inclusion
- To offer practical advice and assistance and where necessary support individuals to access specialist services
- To assist in identifying and accessing appropriate move on accommodation
Referrals for admission come mainly from service users within the Crisis Residential Unit, although referrals from external agencies will be considered.
Housing Support Service
The Housing Support Service provides a support package tailored to meet the needs of individuals ready to move on from Long Stay to live independently within the community and continue the process of resettlement. This is the newest development within Link-Up. Support hours and length of time within the service will average six to nine months.
Aim:
- To encourage independence and re-integration into the community
- Resettlement, budgeting skills and confidence building
- Develop independent living through positive lifestyle changes
- Develop coping strategies for relapse prevention and management
