Make It Happen Fund - Robert Coventry

An Inverclyde man accessing Turning Point Scotland's learning disability service in Inverclyde had his dream come true.

Robert Coventry (50) and his support worker Paul Cairns applied to the Make It Happen Fund, which is designed to support service users and staff realise their dreams and aspirations.

Support worker, Paul, said "Robert completed a sponsored cycle around Millport two years ago, and since then expressed an interest in cycling.  The Make it Happen Fund was a great opportunity to help Robert's dream come true."

A successful application to the fund allowed the Inverclyde learning disability service to purchase a blue trike for Robert and also a bike for Paul.  Monies were left over from the application, so the remainder is being used to buy a shed to store the bikes.

Robert, a Turning Point Scotland service user for over four years has now used the trike to cycle from Port Glasgow to Kilmacolm on the bike track as well as taking it on holiday to Dunoon earlier this year.

"I enjoy cycling as I get to meet people.  I can go to the local shops on my trike and buy a few things, as I have a basket to put my shopping in", said Robert.
