Rosies-2-Go launched
26 January 2007
Social care charity, Turning Point Scotland has added Rosies-2-Go to its social firm portfolio, following its success with Rosies Café. Officially launched today (26 Jan), Rosies-2-Go is a catering firm supplying quality sandwiches and buffet lunches to companies in the City of Aberdeen.
Many regular customers of Rosies Café in Aberdeen requested a sandwich delivery service to their place of work, with orders pre-booked in advance. In addition, extensive market research was carried out within Aberdeen City and a burgeoning demand for this service was identified.
With the help of and support from Turning Point Scotland and Communities Scotland Future Builders Investment Fund, Aberdeen Social Enterprises has extended their existing employment related services to form Rosies-2-Go creating seven employment opportunities in the catering industry for people distanced from the labour market.
Patsy Telford, Commercial Manager for Turning Point Scotland said:
"We were delighted to receive £157,503 funding through the Future Builders programme to establish Rosies-2-Go and also to support the growth of our other existing social enterprises in Aberdeen."
Communities Scotland Future Builders is an investment programme which is aimed at helping social economy organisations which provide services to the public.
Communities Scotland's acting area director for Grampian, Jackie Wilkins, added: "The support from Communities Scotland's Futurebuilders Scotland programme recognises Rosies-2-Go as an excellent example of a social economy organisation. It offers employment opportunities to people who may otherwise find it difficult to gain access to the local jobs market. Communities Scotland works hand in hand with organisations such as this to encourage them to be more economically effective and help even more people. Having used this new venture I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality catering service."
Rosies-2-Go works in partnership with Mental Health Aberdeen operating from their premises at 8 Alford Place, Aberdeen.
Speaking of the partnership, David Strathearn, Managing Director from Mental Health Aberdeen, said: "there have been a number of mutual benefits from working together with Turning Point Scotland, not least of which has been that our own in-house café is now run by Rosies-2-Go. This has enabled our staff to focus more on vital support work that they do. The benefits from this type of joint working outweigh the challenges created by bringing different organisations together."
