30 April 2009

To celebrate Turning Point Scotland's 10th Anniversary, Aberdeen Social Enterprises is holding an Open Day at Opus of Aberdeen on Thursday the 7th of May 2009.

Everyone is welcome to attend, receive a guided tour of the workshops, partake in light refreshments and browse our beautifully refurbished shop which sells gifts and crafts for all the family.  For this special day there will be 10% off all stock and picture framing.

Aberdeen Social Enterprises (ASE) is a group of enterprises in Aberdeen which is part of the charity Turning Point Scotland (TPS).  Our social enterprises are for people experiencing or recovering from mental health problems and people distanced form the labour market.  We provide vocational training, work experience and real employment opportunities and pay permitted work earnings to our service users while providing high quality services to the general public.

Opus of Aberdeen provides a fully functioning picture framing workshop that offers the public a first class framing service for all types of work including paintings, autographed sports shirts, certificates, family portraits, tapestries and needlework.  The gift shop sells high quality gifts, crafts and original art work from a range of local and international artists.  We stock our own range of hand-made items from our own workshop.  The craft workshop offers hand-made greetings cards, beautiful bespoke wedding stationary or party invitations made to your specification.  We also offer an individually designed cushion making service, hand-made bags, children's smocks and many more high quality products.

Patsy Telford, Service Manager at ASE is looking forward to the open day.  She said, "Everyone is most welcome to come along and find out more about the work we do and to enjoy our fantastic new shop refit which was obtained through a grant from Langstane Housing from the Wider Role Fund.  It is also worth taking advantage of the 10% discounts, our customers are always very impressed with the wide range of products we have on sale ."

Opus is open 10am - 8pm on the day.  Normal hours are Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm staying open until 6pm on a Thursday.
