A report on the approach required to maximise opportunity for recovery from problem substance use in Scotland

Turning Point Scotland welcomes this report.  It gives clear direction to strategists, purchasers and service providers that there should be a concentration and focus on the recovery of individuals from their substance misuse.

This report emphasizes the importance of care being person centred, continually assessed and reviewed and working towards the individual's recovery goals and aspirations.

Turning Point Scotland believes that this report provides the blue print for the future planning and delivery of care to this group of vulnerable people.

The successful implementation of this report will depend on effective and service user led partnerships between voluntary and statutory service providers, strategists and purchasers.

Turning Point Scotland agrees with the statement in this report that the required service provision is indeed essential to support an individual's pathway to recovery.

We also agree that the need to concentrate on the provision of a care continuum removes the need to prolong the unhelpful debate surrounding harm reduction and abstinence.
