Dumfries and Galloway Drugs Service
Dumfries and Galloway Drug Services comprises of Turning Point Stranraer, Annan, Kirkcudbright and Sanquhar.
The overall aim of the service is to provide service users and, where applicable, their families or carers, with a quality service which brings them into treatment or rehabilitation and offers individual person-centred plans based on an assessment of individual need.
The service we offer is within the agreed Dumfries and Galloway Integrated Care Model and is offered in partnership with other service providers as necessary.
All our services provide the following:
- A crisis intervention service
- One to one support and other psychosocial interventions
- Relapse prevention strategies
- An information resource for service users, their families and their carers
- Individual plans and programmes which may include group work as appropriate
- Links with local housing providers to ensure that service users can gain access to appropriate tenancies
- Housing support
- Support to enable service users to access employment and training opportunities
- Links with other statutory and voluntary agencies
In addition to the above, services delivered in the Wigtownshire area based in the Stranraer office includes the following harm reduction services:
- Substitute prescribing
- Needle exchange
- Supervised consumption of methadone or other prescribed medication.

Referrals for the service are accepted from any source and services offered are within the bounds of the agreed Integrated Care Model.
