Guildry House
Guildry House is committed to providing temporary accommodation and intensive person centred support packages for people who are or may be at risk of sleeping rough. The main aim is resettlement in the community for all.
In 2000, the Rough Sleepers Initiative in Moray was successful in a bid to the Scottish Executive to provide a project capable of accommodating single, homeless men and women. Guildry House in Elgin was identified and subsequently purchased in conjunction with Langstane Housing Association.
Aims:
- Offer people the opportunity to gain their self respect
- Offer people the opportunity to gain their self worth
- Improve people's social and practical skills
- Give people the opportunity and the skills to be able to resettle in the community within a period of 9-12 months
- To improve the situation for homeless people who use our service
- Provide non-judgemental support
- Involve residents in the decisions about their support
- To provide a responsive and local service
- Challenge the causes of homelessness
- Work in partnership with other agencies
- Provide a service which is directed by those who use it
Through the accommodation and support, those who access the service at Guildry House will be able to plan and prepare to move into their own tenancy with confidence in the knowledge that they have gained new skills and have a support network to assist them.

- Managing service user accommodation
- Claiming benefits
- Safety and security
- Developing budgeting, domestic and life skills
- Developing social skills
- Looking at behavioural issues
- Looking at training and or education
- Assisting with social and leisure activities
- General counselling and emotional support
- Advice, advocacy and liaison
- Assistance in finding permanent accommodation
- Shopping, cooking and cleaning
- Substance misuse issues
- Mental Health Issues
Referrals:
Guildry House is not a Direct Access service and anyone who is provided with a housing support service must refer through The Moray Council.
If you are homeless and require support to enable you to live independently, you must present yourself at:

Working with Substance Misuse:
Guildry House was successful in securing funding through The Robertson Trust and Scotland Against Drugs for a dedicated worker to work with people who have substance misuse issues in conjunction with the experience of the housing support staff based at Guildry House.
Aims of the dedicated worker:
- to address individual problems with addiction
- support people to engage and sustain contact with specialist agencies
- support people towards stabilisation and abstention
- assist with promoting pathways into needle exchange
- address harm reduction
- assisting with sustaining a tenancy once moved on from the housing support service
