SEASTAR
SEASTAR is funded by South & East Ayrshire local authorities and NHS Ayrshire & Arran to provide individual needs & goals-based interventions for people with a range of substance-misuse issues.
Service users are offered a support package within their own community.
Following assessment the following services can be offered:
- One-to-one support
- Group work
- Acupuncture
- Outreach work.
Service users may be leaving residential rehabilitation, day services, home detoxification or other specialist care and have a need for continuing support.
This service has three distinct phases which allows service users to progress through the rehabilitation process.
These phases are:
1. To support the inidvidual address their addiction issues through challenging goal attainment. Techniques may include motivational enhancement sessions, problem solving, relationship building, cognitive behavioural inputs, and anger management and communication skills.
2. To support the individual in developing skills and self-reliance. This may include parenting skills, basic family therapy, budgets, household management, personal care, literacy and numeracy.
3. Through care and after care supports the inividual into education, pre-employment training, voluntary work and paid employment.
SEASTAR is aimed at people aged 16 years plus who are moving towards stability (participating in a substitute prescribing or abstinence programme and have a history of drug dependency with associated health and social issues).
SEASTAR is not targeted at service users with very chaotic lifestyles or complex needs. We actively participate in the Ayrshire & Arran Addictions Signposting Programme and will help service users identify the most appropriate service for them.
We will also provide help & information to friends, family and our community.
Referrals:
SEASTAR welcomes self-referrals and referrals from colleagues in other agencies.
SEASTAR are also providers of Throughcare Addiction Service for Ayrshire & Arran, offering support pre and post release to prisoners with substance misuse issues returning to North, South & East Ayrshire. This is funded by the three local authorities.
Core opening hours are Monday -Thursday 0900-1700 hours, Friday 0830 - 1600 hours. Late appointments can be offered on Mon-Thurs until 2000 hours if required.
