South East Alternatives


South East Alternatives (SEA) provides individual person centred support to stable drug misusers, former drug misusers and their families. SEA also supports individuals who have alcohol related issues.

SEA provides day services for people living in Glasgow South and South East areas which include Gorbals, Toryglen, Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Castlemilk, Shawlands and Pollokshields.   

The service currently offers a range of group and one to one sessions that promotes harm reduction and or abstinence.

SEA aims to:

  • Increase stability of individuals affected by drugs and alcohol
  • To address issues related to drug and alcohol misuse
  • To work with families and children who are affected by drug and alcohol misuse
  • To work with individuals in developing their social skills
  • To identify and encourage individuals aspirations towards education, training and employment.

SEA provides:

  • An individual support package to meet needs and aspirations
  • One to one and group work support
  • On-site educational classes provided by local colleges
  • Opportunities to expand social interactions
  • Family support
  • Resilience building for children
  • Access to training employment and other statutory and voluntary organisations
  • Complementary therapies.

Children and Families Work:
The service benefits from specialised interventions provided by Barnardo's.  The Barnardo's staff offers their experience and skills in providing a service for children and young people who have experienced family substance misuse. The aim of the work is to improve the quality of life of children by promoting resilience in young people. This is achieved by providing one to one support, group and family based work which ultimately complements the individual work with adults undertaken by Turning Point Scotland.

The office is open Monday to Friday 0900 to 1700 hours for enquiries and referrals.  The service is open mornings, afternoons and some evenings and occasional weekends.

Referrals :
SEA accepts both self referrals and referrals from statutory and voluntary organisations.
