Aberdeenshire Housing Support (formerly PITSTOP) provides 24 hour support within temporary accommodation to single people with substance misuse issues and who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The service aims to equip residents with the tools to live independently by helping them to gain the life skills, confidence and resilience needed to live independently.
Staff will work with residents to create a personalised support plan based on their needs and goals. This plan is reviewed on an ongoing basis and updated to reflect the individual’s progress.
The range of support offered includes:
- Maintaining a flat
- Personal safety
- Building and maintaining relationships
- Dealing with stress and conflict
- Securing permanent accommodation and planning for the future
Aberdeenshire Housing Support also works in partnership with other local agencies to ensure that all aspects of need are addressed. This includes:
- Health and addiction problem
- Legal matter
- Benefit issue
- Education, work experience opportunities and employment
The service works closely with Aberdeenshire Council and is funded through Supporting People. Aberdeenshire Housing Support can accommodate ten residents within four single and three shared, furnished flats accommodating ten residents in total.
