Glasgow Housing Support is a housing support service, commissioned by Glasgow Homeless Partnership and Glasgow Addiction Service. The service provides temporary accommodation for individuals who are over 18 years of age, experiencing homelessness and have taken steps to resolve their substance misuse issues.

The individual will be striving to gain independent living, but at present requires housing support.  They will have a history of substance misuse related issues and be motivated to take appropriate steps to address these. Select the leaflet you require:

Glasgow Housing Support, Drumchapel

The Drumchapel site provides five two bedroom fully furnished flats for a period of around six to 12 months. Three of the flats are suitable for two people to share with the remaining two flats suitable for child access. The child access flats can be used by individuals whose children are currently in the care of another party but where there are access arrangements in place.

Staff are on the site (day shift and back shift) and staff contact is available on a 24/7 basis.

Glasgow Housing Support, Maryhill

The Maryhill site has 10 flats and can accommodate 10 service users.  There are 4 two bedroom flats and 6 single bedroom flats. There is no shared accommodation at Maryhill and the two bed flats can be used for an overnight stay for a family member (child/sibling/parent) or very close friend. This is done and allowed via a risk assessment carried out by the individual and the staff on duty.  One of the flats is also wheelchair accessible and specially adapted.

Staff are on the site (day shift and back shift) and staff contact is available on a 24/7 basis.

Aims of the service:

  • To promote recovery from substance misuse and homelessness
  • To provide a person centered package of support, which is regularly monitored and reviewed
  • To support individuals to maximize skills involved in independent living such as budgeting, managing bills, maximizing benefits, tenancy management, neighbour relations, balanced diet, food shopping, housework and door management
  • To encourage integration into the local and wider community
  • To support the development of social networks
  • To provide information relating to health promotion and to take opportunities to promote this
  • To support individuals to access work experience and/or training opportunities as appropriate
  • To access, plan and assist in securing and move to appropriate permanent accommodation

The service works in partnership with Glasgow City Council Addiction Teams who provide care management and addiction support to all individuals using the service.
