The Mile End Project is a specialist service run by Turning Point Scotland for adults with learning and physical disabilities living in their own homes. The Renfrewshire service was established in 2001 and has grown rapidly. As a result, the service was divided into two and The Mile End Project was created in 2007.

Our main aim is to work in a person centred way with adults who have a learning/physical disability.  We do this through:

  • Providing varying levels of support to individuals living in their own homes depending on their own requirements
  • Providing support to individuals who have autism
  • Working in a person centred way to deliver a high quality service to all  individuals
  • Supporting people to become involved in employment initiatives
  • Monitoring the service we provide
  • Providing staff with the required training to deliver a quality service

Funding Arrangements/Staffing Structure and overall Budget

The service is funded through various local authorities and also to individuals who are in receipt of their own personalised budget or self directed supports’

The project employs a number of staff and our management structure and quality monitoring systems allow us to monitor closely the service we provide. All our staff regardless of their position receive extensive training which enables them to carry out their job to a high standard.

Service User Information

We provide support to individuals with learning and physical disabilities living in their own homes. The number of hours support that we provide varies for each individual. The majority of the service users receive 24hr support.

We provide support to individuals in their own houses. The houses vary in size, some service users have chosen to live alone and some share with others. The maximum number of service users living in a shared house is four. All service users have their own bedrooms.
