STABLE offers flexible and consistent support to individuals who have or have had mental health issues and are living in their own home. We provide person centred support which is tailored to fit the needs of the individual. The main aim of the service is to support individuals to maintain good health and improve independence so they no longer need our support.

The team will help individuals to recognise and work towards their goals and targets at their own pace. Everyone who engages with STABLE has an individual contract and support plan that is agreed between themselves and the service. It details what specific support will be provided but also what is expected of the person. This enables the person to play a central role in the key decisions which govern their care and to take personal responsibility for the decisions they make.

Many of the people supported by STABLE are council or housing association tenants. We are also able to provide a service to homeowners or those in private rented accommodation. For this service Aberdeen City Council will charge by the hour, although some people may qualify for exemption depending on their financial circumstances.

Advice and support is available both within and outwith the home. Services include:

  • Using equipment in the home, such as a washing machine or cooker
  • Food preparation and safe storage
  • Minor household maintenance, such as changing a light bulb
  • Practical household tasks – such as establishing a cleaning routine and food hygiene practices
  • Support to attend appointments
  • Dealing with neighbour and community issues
  • Shopping and community facilities
  • Advice and support with resettlement and moving house

The staff team at STABLE understand the negative effects of mental illness and are able to provide patient and empathetic support to help people achieve their goals.

Referrals

Many referrals come from care managers, social workers, community psychiatric nurses and other support agencies.

The service is available 7 days a week from 9am-9pm.

On call hours: Mon-Fri 5pm-9am
Sat-Sun 9am-9pm
