North Aberdeenshire Recovery Service (formerly Northern Horizons) is a community based drug support service offering free and confidential support to those who have been affected by substance misuse in the North Aberdeenshire area.
Support is available for adults who wish to address their substance misuse issues.
The main office is located in Peterhead, although outreach services are available in Fraserburgh, Banff, and Turriff and throughout North Aberdeenshire.
The type of support available includes:
- Drop In Sessions
Drop in sessions offer advice, support and brief crisis intervention. They also offer a safe place to spend time on leisure activities.
Available: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 3pm – 5pm, Tuesday 5pm – 7pm, Friday 2pm – 4pm
- One to one counselling
Structured one to one and group work sessions addressing issues such as harm reduction, anger management, self esteem, confidence building, relapse prevention, stabilisation and recovery.
- Needle Exchange
The exchange offers a safe place to dispose of used injecting equipment and exchange it for new sterile equipment.
Available in Peterhead :Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 3pm – 5pm, Tuesday 5pm – 7pm, Friday 2pm – 4pm
- Support and Information
Advice, support and information are available to parents, families, partners and friends of substance misusers
- Custody Referral Scheme
This scheme is available to people held in custody who have substance misuse issues.
