SEASTAR is funded by South and East Ayrshire local authorities to provide support for people with a range of substance misuse issues in Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Ayr.

The service is aimed at adults aged 16 and over who are moving towards stability after a history of drug dependency and associated health and social issues.

Service users may be leaving residential rehabilitation, day services, home detoxification or other specialist care and have a need for continuing support.

Those who receive support from the service are offered a personalised support package in their local community.

This will include:

  • One to one work
  • Group work
  • Outreach support
  • Acupuncture

SEASTAR offers a three phase support programme which allows users to progress through the rehabilitation process.

These three phases are:

  1. To support the individual to address their addiction issues through challenging goal attainment. This may deal with issues such as anger management, communication skills, problem solving, relationship building and motivational skills.
  2. To support the individual to develop life skills and self -reliance. This may include parenting skills, basic family therapy, budgeting, household management and personal care.
  3. Through care and after care will support the individual to gain a place in education or pre-employment training, or into voluntary or paid employment.
