SEASTAR is funded by South and East Ayrshire local authorities to provide support for people with a range of substance misuse issues in Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Ayr.
The service is aimed at adults aged 16 and over who are moving towards stability after a history of drug dependency and associated health and social issues.
Service users may be leaving residential rehabilitation, day services, home detoxification or other specialist care and have a need for continuing support.
Those who receive support from the service are offered a personalised support package in their local community.
This will include:
- One to one work
- Group work
- Outreach support
- Acupuncture
SEASTAR offers a three phase support programme which allows users to progress through the rehabilitation process.
These three phases are:
- To support the individual to address their addiction issues through challenging goal attainment. This may deal with issues such as anger management, communication skills, problem solving, relationship building and motivational skills.
- To support the individual to develop life skills and self -reliance. This may include parenting skills, basic family therapy, budgeting, household management and personal care.
- Through care and after care will support the individual to gain a place in education or pre-employment training, or into voluntary or paid employment.
