The Big River Project offers a Borders-wide service which will work positively and flexibly with individuals who are experiencing problems due to their substance misuse.
We offer:
Individual Casework
- One to one ongoing support from a named worker to address issues around drug misuse
- Practical and emotional support
- Advice and information
- Signposting on to other agencies
- Advocacy support
- Move on options
We also offer support, information and advice for family members who are affected by someone else’s drug use.
Needle Exchange
- Access to clean injecting equipment
- Harm reduction advice and information
- Sexual health advice
- Access to blood borne virus testing and support in partnership with NHS Borders
Duty/Open Access
- No appointment needed between 1pm and 4pm
- Crisis intervention
- Support and advice
- Referrals taken or referred on to other agencies
Employability Hub
- Access to internet/computer
- CV, job search
- Access, gateway to information on education, training and employment
Complementary Therapies
- Auricular acupuncture
- Indian Head Massage
- Reiki
- Visualisations
Hours of Service
The project is open:
- Monday to Thursday: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
- Friday: 9.00am to 4.30pm
One to one appointments are offered at various locations throughout the Borders.
The project has a 24-hour answer phone service. If you leave a message we will call you back as soon as possible.
