Turning Point Scotland launches new Rosie’s Café

A grand launch was held today to celebrate the new Rosie’s Café at Tillydrone Community Campus in Aberdeen.

Rosie’s Café, a Social Enterprise run by the charity Turning Point Scotland, has been a recognised presence in the community for more than 20 years.

In early October, Rosie’s Café staff and volunteers began serving customers from the new premises, part of Aberdeen City Council’s £6 million facility, which opened in August 2019.

Rosie’s Café, named after its first premises on Rosemount Place, opened in 1999, to support people in recovery from mental ill health regain confidence, build structure and routine into their lives and enhance their work skills.

As part of the wider Rosie’s Social Enterprises, the café continues to provide work placements, training and support in a hospitality setting with funding provided by Aberdeen City Council.

Working from premises on Holburn Street, Rosie’s Social Enterprises also runs framing, crafts, graphic design and upcycling workshops and all products, handmade with care, are showcased and sold in the on-site gift shop. Work placements of up to two years are funded by Aberdeen City Council.

Rosie’s Social Enterprises, Service Manager, Alison Paterson said:

‘‘We are delighted to have Rosie’s Café open once again after overcoming the challenges we encountered, including the pandemic, over the past two years.

‘‘Reopening, with the support of Aberdeen City Council and the Management Committee at Tillydrone Community Campus, allows us to continue providing support and training to the people we work with, and we look forward to serving great food to the community.

‘‘It has been wonderful to see our staff, partner organisations and members of the community enjoy Rosie’s Café today at the grand launch and I would like to thank everyone who attended for their support.’’
