Introduced in 1971, the Misuse of Drugs Act is at the root of all law, policy and practice around drugs in our society, and people who use them. It created the drugs classification system, made the possession and distribution of these classified drugs illegal, and tied the penalties for breaking this law to how ‘bad’ the drug was. 50 years on, I think that most of us could agree that this law is worth reviewing.
Today we have submitted our response to Douglas Ross MSP’s proposed Right to Addiction Recovery (Scotland) Bill.
Turning Point Scotland has enhanced two of their alcohol and other drug services within the Glasgow area. These improved services aim to reduce the number of drug related fatalities through harm reduction treatment.

Turning Point Scotland is the biggest provider of services to people experiencing or at risk of Homelessness across Scotland. We deliver support to over 2800 individuals on any given day, and over 5,100 each year. This number increases when taking into account our services accessed through Justice or Alcohol and Other Drugs funding streams.
